By being a member of the Geological Society of Africa you will actively participate in encouraging earth science education and research in Africa, which will lead to the sustainable development of the natural resources of Africa.
Apart from this academic aspect, you will personally benefit from:

- As a member you can attend conferences where the Society is involved at reduced price.
- Publication of your scientific results on African geology in the Journal of African Earth Sciences (JAES) will help you to disseminate the results of your scientific work, as this will be read by those colleagues within the continent or outside the continent engaged in research on African geology.
- As a member of the GSAf, you are entitled to subscribe to the Journal of African Earth Sciences at a reduced rate.

* Associate/Student Membership is only available to fulltime students. Applications should be endorsed by the head of the department.
** Life Membership is available only to individual qualifying members, subject to Council and General Assembly approval.
*** To reduce the expense of online transfer of the membership fee, the council decided to collect the fee in a cycle every two years during the Colloquium of African Geology. Also, during the Colloquium of African Geology, members will have a chance to pay 10 years fees.
