Prof. Dr. Dr. Habil. Wladyslaw Altermann is Head of the Department of Geology at the University of Pretoria and holds the Exxaro Chair in Geodynamics of Ore Deposits. He serves as GSAf Vice-President (South) and Chairman of the South African Committee for Stratigraphy. His research encompasses geodynamic processes in ore and basin formation, Precambrian sedimentology, biogeology, geological remote sensing, CO2 sequestration, and geology of Mars.
